Training for Peacebuilding
Our trainings are evidence-based and research and practice supported. Peacebuilding’s program evaluations consistently reveal that 97% of our graduates rate the trainings as “very good” to “excellent.” Ninety-eight percent say they will recommend Peacebuilding’s trainings to others because of the innovative concepts, models, and experiential educational methodologies that directly address critical human emotional and social needs. Pre/post training surveys yield powerful results showing that Peacebuilding graduates have significantly increased confidence and skills to intervene and assist traumatized individuals and groups in their personal and professional spheres of influence. Longitudinal data strongly suggests that graduates have integrated what they learn into their daily lives for effective and efficient positive nonviolent social change within their spheres of influence.
Since 2010, Peacebuilding has had over 6,500 graduates from our online and in-person trainings. Eighty percent of our graduates are women, 33% are persons of color, the LGBTQ community is well represented. Furthermore, 51% of our trainees require tuition assistance. We are committed to ensuring that anyone with the time and interest can attend Peacebuilding’s trainings for the nonviolent empowerment of their communities.

"America seems awash in physical and verbal violence. STAR taught me that there are almost always alternatives to any kind of violence and that these alternatives may lead not only to healing of past injuries but avoidance of future violence."
Dave Drucker, LADC, Minneapolis
"The STAR Training was thought-provoking, sensitive and informative. After the shooting at the Sikh Temple, this training provided a wealth of resources both on personal and community levels."
Judith Price, BSN, MHCA, Community Public Health Officer, Oak Creek Health Department, Oak Creek, WI
"STAR created the space for reflection on trauma created from poverty, racism, being an immigrant, and a veteran. STAR increased my compassion for survivors of trauma. I want to create unity and a sense of community. I am very grateful to have attended this training."
Marco Murrieta, MSW, Home-Based Therapist, St. Paul
“The STAR training materials, videos, tools, exercises, and conversations were not only educational, they also carved out the time and created a community necessary for trainees to experience, understand, and grow from the work of trauma healing.”
Nancy Burkhardt, MSW, LICSW, Minneapolis
“STAR provided me with tools and language around issues facing the women I work with who have been through trauma related to homelessness, poverty, abuse, and torture. The comprehension I gained is very useful in my day-to-day work with these individuals as well as in directing the staff of a small non-profit organization.”
Cheryl Behrent, Director of Sarah’s …an Oasis for Women, Saint Paul
"STAR provides a framework for how trauma produces hidden wounds that hinder growth and resiliency. I learned models, strategies, and coping resources that are useful in my personal life and professional work."
Kim Vu Friesen, MA, Minneapolis Public School Counselor
