Are you in need of a dose of inspiration? Do you want to get out and do something that will positively affect our community? Do you want a fun night out? Well LUNAFEST has got you covered on all 3 fronts!
Be Inspired
LUNAFEST is a film festival of 9 short films, by women, for women, about women. These stunning, internationally curated films range from comedic to reflective. Some of the film topics include a 17-year- old woman living in a refugee camp in Jordan, senior citizens on a synchronized swimming team, and the power of comedy after prison. You are sure to be moved by the films and find ones that you relate to, or feel inspired by. You will probably laugh, cry, and be in awe at some point throughout the night. Check out the trailer:

Do Good
The proceeds for LUNAFEST: Minneapolis go to the Minnesota Peacebuilding Leadership Institute. The organization’s mission is to “instigate, train and support racially, sexually, culturally, ethically, religiously and economically diverse individuals and organizations to become trauma-informed, resilience-oriented, and restorative-focused empowering communities in Minnesota, the USA, and around the world. “ MN Peacebuilding's trainings include Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience (the STAR training), STAR-Lite Training (Learning strategies for trauma awareness and resilience in a single day), Restorative Justice 101 training, and our newly added Resilience and Self Care three hour training. Last year we raised $16,000 at LUNAFEST, which funded scholarships for low-income training recipients. At this year’s event we hope to raise even more to give access to everyone that can benefit from these trainings so that our communities can promote healing, build peace, and practice empowerment. Here's more information about our mission and organization.
Have a Fun Night Out
This evening is so fun! It will be set at south Minneapolis’ Riverview Theater, a retro theater with a cool 1950s vibe and one of the only theaters around that serves popcorn made with real butter! Last year around 400 people enjoyed LUNAFEST: Minneapolis and this year we expect even more people! It is a night that includes not only the films and amazing entertainment, but also raffle prizes worth over $600! Prizes include gift certificates to local restaurants, spa packages, cool products, and fitness trackers. It’s a great event to go to and enjoy with your friends and family.

As a board member, I am so proud of the work that the MN Peacebuilding Leadership Institute does and hope you will come out to support it. I'll see you and your friends on Wednesday, April 26th at the Riverview Theater in South Minneapolis.
